Good news! The Korea-Vietnam Working Group has been approved as an official AAS (Association of Asian Studies) affiliate group. As an affiliate group we can “sponsor” panel sessions on the formal program (though it does not guarantee acceptance onto the program). Nonetheless, it is a form of pre-vetting or approval of a given topic that the Program Committee takes into account as an additional factor during the normal competitive review process. As AAS puts it, “sponsorship can contribute to acceptance of a panel proposal but again, does not guarantee acceptance onto the program.”
